The shooting took place in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood, just where a number of members of Congress were practicing, for the annual charity congressional baseball game set for tomorrow. A armed gunman opened fire on members of Congress practicing, for a charity baseball game this morning in Alexandria, Virginia, injuring Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, a true friend, and patriot, was badly injured, but will fully recover. Witness Ben Childers told ABC News’ “Good Morning America” he was in his apartment when he heard gunshots, and he said he saw congressional members running off of a baseball field. A senior member of GOP leadership told ABC News that Scalise “was hit in the hip, and ought to be OK.” Brooks said he took off of his belt and he and an additional congressman applied a tourniquet to attempt toslow speed down the bleeding. Mo Brooks, R-Alabama, told CNN, “I was on deck about to hit batting practice on the third base side, and I hear, ‘Bam.’ The FBI has showed up at the scene of the shooting, which is about 7 miles away from the White House in Washington, D.C. This is a breaking news story.”
